WHAT IS FAIR DAY (like Făgăraș has never seen before)? An open-air cultural and community event, organized in the heart of summer, in one of the most vibrant places in the area – the Făgăraș Fortress. Over 15 Romanian, Saxon and Hungarian communities from Țara Făgăraș join forces for an authentic experience: living traditions, pure crafts, identity gastronomy, cultural souvenirs. An event without commercial, visual or sound compromises – where good taste and good taste are the supreme criteria.
WHAT MAKES THIS FAIR TRULY SPECIAL?
* Careful selection of participants: no kitsch, no clichés – only authentic cultural expressions: we will encounter manufactured products in: Făgăraș, Avrig, Sămbăta de jos, Cincu, Sămbăta de Sus, Drăguș, Mărgineni, Beclean, Calbor, Boholț, Felmer, Șona, Mândra, Ileni, Șercaia, Hălmeag, Veneția de jos, Grid.
* Emblematic tastes: we rediscover old products and recipes, brought to light under the guidance of chef Daniela Graură.
* Living crafts: practical demonstrations of carefully preserved traditions.
* Clean design: everything is aesthetically and sustainably thought out
* The installation “After the meal, before memory” - a collective work coordinated by anthropologist Marlene Herberth, from KraftMade, which recovers the domestic memory of the communities from Țara Făgărașului. Simple objects – tablecloths, kitchen utensils from various eras, embroidered towels – become witnesses to a silent but essential history. A space for dialogue, emotion and recognition of the care transmitted through generations.
* Book launch – “Sarmale and serotonin” in the presence of the author, Camelia Burghele, an authorized voice of the younger generation of Romanian anthropologists, concerned with the x-raying of cultural phenomena specific to globalization and the urban, of the new landmarks in the post-traditional village. The volume is a kind of “false treatise on sarmale”, putting in the same “pot of sarmale” cooking stories from the village world, cultural landmarks – identity and trendy culinary trends.
* Playing and singing in the middle of the fair: among the visitors, in a surprise and non-staged appearance, the artist Mihai Teacă and Junii Becleanului will sing and play – some of the most authentic keepers of the musical and choreographic tradition in Țara Făgărașului. A lively, free moment, organically connected to the community and the spirit of the place – as it used to be, in the fairs of the past.
