Crossed swords, troubadours and minstrels, mysterious witches and daring princesses in long, colorful dresses – all of this comes to life at the most important medieval festival in Romania: the 2025 Sighisoara Medieval Festival.
For three days, visitors are transported back to the Middle Ages, in the heart of the centuries-old fortress of Sighisoara. Here, medieval music, dance and theater performances, sword fighting tournaments, equestrian demonstrations, traditional crafts and culinary workshops await them.
Elaborate costumes, spectacular parades, historical reenactments and live concerts create an atmosphere not to be missed.
Now in its 29th edition, the festival will be divided into several thematic sections: music, dance, parades, theater and interactive workshops, offering a complete experience for all ages.
On Friday, July 25, starting at 7:00 PM, the festival kicks off with an impressive opening parade that will run through the streets of the fortress.
On Saturday, July 26, the atmosphere becomes more intense. Dueling lessons, reenactments of medieval punishments will take place in the Fortress Square, and the ruler Vlad Tepes will make an appearance. The day ends spectacularly, with a fire juggling show.
On Sunday, the last day of the festival, the tension reaches its peak. The winners of the battles will be announced, and the evening will end gloriously, with an exceptional concert, to the applause of all those present.
