The Vrancea County Council, through the Vrancea Cultural Center, organizes on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at 12:00, at the Focșani Art Galleries, the Pavel Terțiu National Traditional Crafts Competition, the 18th edition, dedicated to students of folk art schools in the country.
Registration for the competition is open until December 10, 2024, according to the regulations.
The contestants' works are sent, accompanied by the participation form, to the Vrancea Cultural Center, Mitropolit Varlaam Street no. 48 bis, Focșani, Vrancea County. The competition regulations and the registration form are published on the institution's website.
The event promotes the beauty of folk crafts from all parts of the country, discovering new talents guided by folk craftsmen and teachers of folk art schools, who meticulously promote and hone the talent of students of all ages. Following the judging, students will receive diplomas and prizes awarded in the categories:
- Folk masks
- Folk weaving (wiping and bark)
- Folk notches
- Wicker braiding
- Folk instruments
- Icons
- Small cooperage
- Painted eggs.
The contest jury is composed of:
- President of the jury – prof. univ. dr., ethnologist Doina Ișfanoni – art historian and theorist, member of the National Council for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage;
- Member – Valentin Marin, ethnomusicologist, manager of Radio Romania Antena Satelor;
- Member – Sorin Francu, manager of the Municipal Theater Mr. Gh. Pastia Focșani.
The judging and awarding of the competitors will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at 12:00, at the Focșani Art Galleries.
